“DMFS reached out to Bravery Trust with an enquiry about financial support for a current serving member and his family around Christmas. Bravery Trust acted swiftly and went above and beyond to meet the support required. A little support can go a long way, and we recognise the important support provided by Bravery Trust to our Defence community in times of need.” – Defence Member and Family Support (DMFS)
Rob* has served in the Army since 2001, including several tours of Afghanistan.
A motor vehicle accident left him with multiple serious injuries. After two months in hospital and several surgeries complicated by infections, Rob’s social worker was concerned about this mental health.
Rob’s elderly parents lived interstate, and as aged pensioners couldn’t afford the travel costs to visit.
Bravery Trust works closely and collaboratively with key veteran agencies including Defence Member and Family Support (DMFS). We focus on our financial expertise to fill gaps and make sure veterans do not fall through gaps in the system.
DMFS contacted us when many other agencies had closed their accounts for the year, seeking assistance to reunite the family for Christmas aiming for a positive change to Rob’s mental health outlook.
Sometimes a relatively small amount of money provided at the right time can have a huge impact and we were able to assist within 48 hours.
Bravery Trust contributed toward transport costs to reunite Rob and his parents, in what has been described as a lifechanging moment in his incredibly difficult journey.
People are at the heart of everything we do. No two veterans are the same.
Help us support our veterans. They sign their lives over to protect us, you can help build a safety net for them.
