“My Dad served in the Army. I applied and joined the Air Force. It ended up 12 and a half years and I loved every minute of it.

“I have Osteoarthritis in both knees and in my back and I have a hearing deficit in both ears.

“Because of my issues I couldn’t work. I found it very hard. I was trying to cut corners the best I could – look at the best value for money utilities, internet services, insurances … I was always looking for that cheaper one that could save me a bit of money.

“It gets a bit hard when you say to your family members, my last treat was a coffee at McDonalds last payday because that’s all I can afford!

“My DVA occupational therapist suggested that I make contact with Bravery Trust and it’s probably the best thing I’ve ever done. It just got to the point where I just looked around I thought I need to get some food in the fridge.

“Once I made that call, I started picking up it was like a huge weight off my shoulders. I felt so good and was able to laugh again and smile and give my little dog a big hug.

“It’s just hard when you’ve been used to everything yourself but it’s nice to be able to have somebody to reach out to when I needed it.”

People are at the heart of everything we do. No two veterans are the same.

Help us support our veterans. They sign their lives over to protect us, you can help build a safety net for them.
