What a week we’ve had! The support from so many to help us reach out to more veterans in hardship has been incredible.
It started with the #AnzacBiscuitChallenge and overwhelming support from the veteran community to help us raise funds in partnership with Coles and reach more veterans in hardship.
The AFL Anzac Day eve match was the icing on the cake. Thanks to Richmond Football Club, Bravery Trust representative Curtis McGrath, lit the cauldron in pre-match ceremony using the flame from the Shrine of Remembrance. The MCG was darkened, fans showed their support using torches. In a moving tribute, Curtis shared the moment with fellow veteran Ryan Werts, who helped to save his life in Afghanistan.
Special thanks to Andrew Coster at Richmond Football Club who put together this video for the occasion. Kevin Sheedy you are simply the best, we are grateful to have you as an official Ambassador of Bravery Trust! Sincere thanks to the Australian Defence Force Aussie Rules players and committee, Damien Hardwick and Lieutenant Commander Liz Quinn, for taking time out to appear in our video (if Liz looks familiar she also conducted the official coin toss before the match!)
