A long recovery meant leave without pay…
Single mum Rebecca (ex-serving Army) contacted Bravery Trust for help following an injury to her shoulder during duty. She already had numerous physical injuries from her time in service and now she urgently needed surgery to repair the damage, but this would result in a six-week recovery period and a significant impact to her and her two young children’s lives.
When Rebecca first got in touch, she sounded distressed at the thought of taking leave without pay or help with her children whilst she recovered. After hearing her story, we were able to work with Rebecca and help with her recovery by paying for six weeks cleaning of her home and some household bills. We also paid for Rebecca’s car repair after it broke down when she went to stay with her parents for additional family support while she recovered. This car repair ensured that Rebecca and her children were able to safely return home when she was well enough.
Rebecca contacted Bravery Trust again when a hailstorm caused major water damage to her home, her children’s Christmas presents and equipment she had purchased for her future beauty business. We were able to replace the water damaged items, including a laptop and provided funding to help Rebecca complete a beauty course.
Rebecca is now mid-way through her beauty course and her dream is to open her own business. She loves spending time with her two young boys and focussing on their wellness journey together.
