In the lead-up to Anzac Bravery Trust Ambassadors and corporate supporters hosted Anzac Biscuit morning tea events to recognise and honour our nation’s veterans while supporting our annual Coles Bravery Trust Appeal.
Birdon held Anzac Biscuit morning teas at its Henderson technical hub and sites across Australia to honour Australian Defence Force (ADF) veterans.
CEO Jamie Bruce said Birdon was proud to employ 14 veterans in Australia and the events provided an opportunity for the business and its staff to honour the service and sacrifice of veterans and their families.
Birdon’s veteran employees bring specialist expertise and commitment to the defence industry to their roles across the business. In Australia, 3.8% of Birdon employees are veterans, while in the US, 14.79% of Birdon employees are veterans.
Birdon is a proud sponsor of Bravery Trust helping provide financial assistance, counselling, and education to current and ex-serving ADF members facing hardship.
Birdon purchased more than 100 Anzac Biscuits from Coles in Lakelands, with 40 cents from each 12 pack going to Bravery Trust.

Each year, around 6,000 ADF personnel transition out of military service. Approximately 25% experience a sudden and unexpected separation, often due to illness or injury. This can lead to reduced income, housing instability, and a loss of identity.
Executive General Manager Maritime and Defence, Mark Albertson, served in Aircraft Maintenance Avionics with the Royal Australian Navy from 1992 to 2005, and said the financial support provided by Bravery Trust plays a critical role.
“Recognition of veterans by industry, whether through employment or sponsoring charities, is key to ensuring their service is recognised and their transition to civilian life is supported,” Mr. Albertson said.
Birdon’s veteran employees bring specialist expertise and commitment to the defence industry to their roles across the business.
Wayne Henry, Systems Engineering Lead at Henderson, who served for 13 years with the Royal Australian Navy said Birdon’s veteran-supportive culture helps translate military experience into meaningful civilian careers.
“Seeing Birdon embrace the knowledge and experiences of veterans recognises that our contribution to the Defence industry is valued even when we’re no longer in uniform,” Mr Henry said.
Birdon continues to build a strong veteran workforce as part of its whole-of-life maritime capability, supporting Australia’s defence sector through innovation, experience, and engineering excellence.
