Peters donates $10,000

Jul 28 , 2015

The ADF Assistance Trust was delighted to receive a valuable donation from Peters this week as a sign of their respect and support for our defence families who have been adversely affected by their service to our country.

Peters is Australia’s favourite ice cream brand and an Australian business icon, founded by Fred Peters in Sydney in 1907. Peters has a long and proud history of supporting families and the community. Being an active member of the community is important to the Peters work culture. Russell Kronenburg, GM – People & Performance, said “our contribution to the ADF Assistance Trust supports their great work in providing essential financial support and assistance to current and former members of the Australian Army, Navy and Air Force and their families affected by any service-related death or permanent disability.”

ADF Assistance Trust Executive Officer Allison Stephens hopes other iconic Australian brands will follow Peters lead in honouring the sacrifices our service personnel make. “The Trust relies heavily on corporate partnerships and donations, and this contribution from Peters will allow us to look after more injured and ill diggers and their families, potentially keeping them from further financial hardship and homelessness.”

Since its establishment three years ago the ADF Assistance Trust has disbursed over $700,000 in financial aid to hundreds of Australia’s defence force members, veterans and their families, providing assistance for housing and utilities costs, education expenses and other special needs. It is expected that demand for the Trust’s assistance will grow significantly in the next 10-15 years as the full toll from Australia’s involvement in the Iraq and Afghanistan conflict peaks. This $10,000 donation from Peters to support our work is vital to ensuring the best possible outcomes for injured and ill veterans and their families and will help them pave the way for a brighter future.
